Milestones

Over the past two days Evelyn has accomplished two major milestones. Today she ate baby food for the first time. Granted I have been trying to feed it to her for about two weeks now, but she would always spit it out at me until I would grown tired and give up. Well today she was chewing on an apple when I decided I would give the baby food another go and much to my surprise she swallowed the first bit, so I thought it was a fluke and half a jar later I realized she was loving it!! She's growing up so fast.

Evelyn has been trying to crawl for several weeks now and on Saturday she finally did it! It is not your traditional crawl, more like a military crawl, but it gets the job done.

I have tried tirelessly to get some decent footage of her crawling, but this is the best I could do. I will keep trying so I have something better to post, but half the problem is getting her siblings to move out of the way long enough for me to video tape her.

She is crawling earlier than the other two did and I fear she may start walking in the next couple of months, but I really hope she holds off until she is close to 12 mos. old. She is getting so big so fast and I am watching my last baby turn into a toddler, it is bittersweet.

Emeline's First Day of MDO

Tuesday was Emeline's first day at Mother's Day Out, which is on Tues and Thurs from 9:30 to 2:30. She cried a little, but her teacher said she stopped soon after I left and that she had a great day, she even napped the whole time!! There are eight kids in her class, 4 boys and 4 girls, I know she is enjoying getting to play with kids her own age, especially some girls. I am so proud of her, she is getting to be such a big girl and I think she is going to love going to MDO. Here are some pictures from when I picked her up on her first day.
Happy to see me, but not ready to quit playing.

She loves playing in the kitchen and this one is just her size.

Tristan insisted that I get a picture of him playing in Emeline's class. I think he wanted to stay and play too!

Busy Week/End

Last week was a busy week in our household. On Thursday evening we had Heath and Jana over for dinner one last time before their baby girl arrives later this month. MA made a fabulous meal of tequila marinated steak, corn, bean and mango salsa, sweet potato fries and Jana made a Cesar salad and I made chocolate and banana empanadas for dessert. The food was great and so was the company! After dinner we all played some Wii Resort and some people got a little competitive. It was a great night, we always enjoy having Heath and Jana over for dinner and look forward to taking them some dinner and meeting their daughter when she arrives, she is due on my b-day! Dad, Jana and Heath after some heated Wii games, can you see the sweat?

On Friday night I got to go to ladies night out with some of the ladies in our Sunday school class while MA stayed at home with all three kids. I had a great time and MA did a wonderful job with the kids, they were all asleep and the house was spotless when I got home, maybe I should go out more often!!

On Sunday MA and I went kayaking down the Harpeth River in Pegram, TN just a short drive from our house. Nana kept Tristan and Emeline while Evelyn hung out with Nanny. The trip is about 2 hours and we got off the water about 5 minutes before a huge storm hit. MA got confirmation that the kayak he bought several months ago floats and I got confirmation that I want a kayak as a graduation present in May!!
MA trying out his new kayak

The money shot!

Going back

It was a perfect day and we will definitely be heading to the Harpeth again and want to take Tristan kayaking there and hope to before it gets too cool.

Evenlyn's Six Month Stats

Evelyn had her 6 month well baby visit today and she got a great report!! She weighed in at 15lbs 9oz (43%) and was 25 1/2 inches long (42%). She is right on target developmentally and was in such a great mood today laughing and smiling at Dr. Eidson. She had to get two vaccinations today, but doesn't have to get anymore until at least 12 months old, maybe even 18 months depending on when we decide to do them. She won't be getting teeth anytime soon, according to the doctor she shows no physical signs of getting teeth in the next couple of months, she must be a late teether like her mommy. She is getting closer and closer to crawling and can almost get from her belly to a sitting position. She still isn't very fond of baby food, but continues to eat table foods with us during meals. She is such a happy and active baby, she almost never cries and sleeps about 4 hours during the day and 8 to 9 hours at night. Emeline is loving to play with her more and more and Evelyn is discovering some of her toys and really enjoys chewing on Tristan's cars. Thankfully he takes them away from her telling her she can't chew on them because she might choke on one of the tires, he is such a protective big brother! We all adore her and look forward to her crawling and sitting up more!
